The Aurora R-XIII district offers a Parents As Teachers (PAT) program for any parent or legal guardian living within the district. This no cost program serves children that are prenatal through kindergarten entry. Parents serve as your child's first teacher and our PAT program is a great opportunity to learn how to better assist your child as they grow. The parent educators in our PAT program are available to support Aurora families by sharing ideas, answering questions, and helping you find appropriate resources, if needed.

The PAT program offers:

• Personal visits (can be completed at your home or at Pate Early Childhood Center)

• Group connection events

• Developmental screenings

• Referral connections with community agencies

The PAT program partners with families to:

• Increase parent knowledge of early childhood development

• Improve parenting practices, increasing children’s school readiness and success

• Provide early detection of developmental delays and health issues

• Prevent child abuse and neglect
